On this day trip, you’ll get to cross the border between Macedonia and Albania to see the beautiful landscape and highlights of Tirana.
First, you’ll visit the Cathedral with its magnificent frescoes that date back to the 11th century. The tour will also showcase views of the Lake of Ohrid, and ‘The Albanians’ mosaic outside the National Historical Museum. This museum has plenty to explore – such as Late Paleolithic objects, an area dedicated to the Middle Ages and artefacts linked to the Declaration of Independence. You can also see Antifascist war memorabilia, exhibits that explain the Communist Regime and an area dedicated to Mother Teresa.
Before the tour ends, you’ll also see a former bunker that was designed to protect dictator Enva Hoxha and his cabinet against a nuclear attack. This area is now an art and cultural centre with plenty of exhibits to explore.
